Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and spatial mapping are essential for scientific research, transforming raw data into actionable visual insights. GIS is critical for environmental monitoring, such as tracking deforestation, modeling habitat suitability, or managing natural resources. In public health, it is used to map disease outbreaks, optimize resource allocation, and analyze disparities. Furthermore, it supports predictive modeling, allowing scientists to simulate scenarios like climate change impacts or urban growth, thereby facilitating informed, data-driven decision-making.

Insight CEO, Dr Mark Griffin, is a data scientist and engineer with over 30 years of experience working in scientific and social research. A major focus of this work has been on the use of Geographical Information Systems to understand the spatial variation in health and social services across Australia. We also use Geographical Information Systems as a core technique within our Own Research into photogrammetry.
