Training in Speaking Skills

Spoken presentations are vital for science communication because they translate complex, technical data into accessible, engaging, and memorable narratives. Unlike written papers, oral presentations offer real-time interaction, allowing scientists to build rapport, clarify concepts, and receive immediate feedback through Q&A sessions. They are essential for networking, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and securing funding by showcasing the "human side" and broader impact of research. Furthermore, effective oral communication increases public trust, elevates scientific visibility, and is often more influential than papers in persuading stakeholders, making them a career-critical skill for researchers to demonstrate competence and passion.
