Australian Science Communicators

Australian Science Communicators (ASC) is the national peak body for individuals and organisations passionate about making science, technology, and innovation accessible and meaningful to the public. Established in 1994, it is a not-for-profit association that connects a diverse network of over 400 professionals, including science journalists, researchers, educators, museum curators, and creative communicators.

The organisation serves as a vital hub for:

  • Networking and Collaboration: Facilitating connections through state branches and a national forum where members share best practices and professional insights.

  • Professional Development: Offering resources, webinar series, and a major national conference to enhance the skills of those engaging the public with scientific research.

  • Advocacy and Recognition: Championing the role of science communication in the Australian science ecosystem and celebrating excellence through awards like the Unsung Hero of Science Communication.

Governed by a National Council and Executive, the ASC works to dismantle barriers to knowledge, fostering a society empowered by evidence-based decision-making and inspired by scientific discovery.

Insight CEO, Dr Mark Griffin, is an active speaker in the fields of data science, science and engineering. He sits on the Queensland committee of Australian Science Communicators.
