Training in Data Capture and Photogrammetry

Data capture and photogrammetry are vital for creating "digital twins" of the physical world, allowing researchers to document fragile or inaccessible environments—like coral reefs—with millimetre precision. These techniques transform 2D images into accurate 3D models, providing a permanent, non-invasive record for long-term biodiversity monitoring and temporal analysis. In communication, these models turn abstract data into tangible visuals. Using photogrammetry, scientists can transport the public into immersive virtual environments, fostering ocean literacy through direct visual evidence of environmental change. This high-fidelity storytelling builds public trust by making scientific evidence undeniably visible and interactive.

Below is a list of the qualifications that we offer in Data Capture and Photogrammetry.

  • Certificate IV in Surveying and Spatial Information Services (Electives on Data Capture and Photogrammetry) (coming soon)

  • Diploma of Spatial Information Services (Electives on Data Capture and Photogrammetry) (coming soon)

We also provide consultancy services in Data Capture and Photogrammetry.

Insight CEO, Dr Mark Griffin, is a computer engineer with over 30 years of experience. Insight uses data capture and photogrammetry within our own research. Insight has a Division established for the Capture and Analysis of Data in Science and Engineering. We also have a gallery of some of the photos and videos that we have captured on Our Research and Photogrammetry.

Training is organized by the Insight Training College. Insight is based within the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct. Insight CEO, Dr Mark Griffin, is a committee member with Engineers Australia and Australian Science Communicators. Our staff are members of the Australian Academy of Cinema Television Arts (AACTA).
